Mid-Century & Decorative Arts 10.27

This 500+ lot sale consists of fantastic American and Danish MCM furniture, exciting antiques, all right next to good, inexpensive collectibles. Lots include interesting small objects, a few bronzes, art pottery, turned wood hats, a stoneware aquarium, colorful glass, framed signed prints, wonderful antique to modern paintings, plus many more interesting objects, including a lovely contemporary art glass collection found with high-end, Greene and Greene style artisan, bench-made furniture. We offer a wonderful selection of lamps and lighting, amazing upholstered pieces, desirable sets of clean teak dining chairs, high end contemporary tables; just a good and varied selection. All items were sourced from local Washington DMV area estates (plus some choice furniture from Pittsburgh). Because we acquire items exclusively from estates, we have an unusual, very diverse collection for auction, with NO RESERVES, and opening bids and estimates ranging from $10 to 40K. Literally, something for every level of collecting. Highlights include original pieces by Nakashima, Wendell Castle, Vladimir Kagan, Philippe Starck and good Danish Modern designers too many to name. Antiques include Mission oak, an illegibly signed Hudson River School oil painting, 18th and 19thC furniture and glass, and a very good tall, architectural pine cabinet with wire doors. Garden objects are represented with a carved stone bird effigy, a large pair of marble guardian lions, and four antique Celtic stone window planters. We also included a collection of good Taxco mixed metal items, a Spratling tea set, along with a steer skull painted with the American flag. There really is too much to highlight, with more to be added, however, have to mention the Mick and Keith signed "Lips" Rolling Stone poster. This is a fun auction.
