Fine Japanese Meiji Six Pc Black Cloisonne Desk Set

Description:

Circa 1880-1930. Excellent original enamel condition throughout, all of it. No chips, cracks, noticable pits or repairs. While this black and gold cloisonne is often seen, this is the more scarce, much heavier older gilt gold over copper type. The gilt gold is worn, as this is a 19thC set. There are six pieces of black, all using the art nouveau "butterfly" design. In addition, there is a red vase of the same style and type. All have 100% intact blue undersides. The heavy, oversized cigarrette box measures approx. 7 3/8" wide by 4 1/4" deep by 3 1/2" tall, raised on four round bun feet. The round cigarette box measures 3 3/4" diameter by 3 1/2" tall. Each candlestick (rare) measures approx. 6" tall with a base 2 3/4" diameter. Each ash tray diameter approx. 3 3/4". Red vase approx. 4 1/4" tall. Whats incredible is not one of these pieces have ever been dropped and damaged like every other set I've seen!
